Using “Allow upgrades to large tables” to extend the limit of PST

“Allow upgrades to large tables” is an exclusive feature of MS Outlook that increases the storage limit of folders of any PST file. Using this feature the limit can be increased up to 16000 folders per PST file and 64000 messages per folder.

Using this option, headers of the PST file are updated permanently. For making “Allow upgrades to large tables” feature available, first of all you need to confirm your Outlook installation type. Procedures for Corporate Workgroup and Internet Mail Only Outlook installation are different so you need to choose the procedure accordingly.

Making “Allow Upgrade to Large Tables” Available (CW)

Follow below mentioned steps to make this feature available in Outlook (Corporate Outlook):

  • On the Tools menu, click Services.
  • Click to select the Personal Folders service, and click Properties.
  • On the General tab, click to select the “Allow upgrade to large tables” check box.
  • Click OK.

    Follow below mentioned steps to make this feature available in Outlook (Internet Mail Only):

  • In the Folders list, right-click Personal Folders, and click “Properties for Personal Folders” on the shortcut menu.
  • On the General tab, click Advanced.
  • Click to select the “Allow upgrade to large tables” check box.
  • Click OK.
  • This way you can extend the storage limit of PST file and folders contained in it. Extending limit of PST file is must, as once the maximum limit of PST file is exceeded; it may get corrupt or may become inaccessible.
